Ten reasons to vote for Ron Paul in 2008:
He has never voted to raise taxes.
He has never voted for an unbalanced budget.
He has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership.
He has never voted to raise congressional pay.
He has never taken a government-paid junket.
He has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch.
He voted against the Patriot Act.
He voted against regulating the Internet.
He voted against the Iraq war.
He does not participate in the lucrative congressional pension program.
He returns a portion of his annual congressional office budget to the U.S. treasury every year.
OK, that was 11 reasons; all pretty good ones.

Rights Boy, I was a little suprised to see read about your lack of support for federal gun control laws. While I agree, most legislation is bad, the constitution gives the feds the right to regulate firearms. The states don't appear to be keeping us safe, so why not support federal gun control?
I'm a bit surprised to see what Ron Paul has not done for the most part. What has he done?
Anonymous, you might be surprised that Rights Boy actually supports gun control to a certain extent. The current system is broken when I have to register and wait days for approval, yet a felon can purchase a weapon at a public or private gun show on the spot. I don’t think hunters or other gun advocates need automatic assault weapons.
But regarding regulation, it comes down to the lesser of two evils – the current situation or more central control. Federal regulation of almost anything has never been successful for very long. It always leads to bigger government and the rules get perverted over time.
If Dick Cheney gets to decide on who gets a gun, I wonder how many of us would get shot in the face. Rights Boy is not paranoid of course, but he is concerned about the growing police state and the paramilitary buildup of SWAT squads in towns the size of Mayberry.
Anyway, this is not a litmus test issue to Rights Boy. Ron Paul is a true libertarian to the core and a strict constitutionalist. BTW – where are you referring when you say constitutionally the feds can regulate firearms?
Thanks so much for your comments!!
Rights Boy,
Many years ago in a constitutional law class I was taught that words or phrases in sentences in the constitution are interpreted by legal tradition according to their order in a particular sentence.
The constitution says "A well-order militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed".
Because the words "A well-order militia being necessary to the security of a free state" precedes "the right to keep and bear arms", legal convention dictates that the constitution only grants right to keep and bear arms to the extent necessary to maintain a militia.
Ergo, other possession and use of firearms are not protected and are subject to federal and/or state legislation.
